Kylie Morgan
Kylie Morgan is a 15-year-old singer/songwriter from Oklahoma. In her short time of singing professionally, Kylie has assembled a band; signed a record deal; recorded a Christmas CD which hit the holiday market in 2009 – with all proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society; written songs for her official debut CD planned for release in early 2010; secured several high-profile sponsorship deals - AND climbed on a bus where she works hard on her studies to maintain a 4.00 grade average. All while fulfilling her busy performing, radio and television appearance schedule.
All of that at age 15! How can that be? For the answer to that question, you have to know how Kylie Morgan thinks. “I set my sights to obtain my goal,” she says without hesitation. “I have been an active girl my entire life. I started dance and gymnastics when I was three years old and was playing t-ball at four. I feel like I was very competitive and successful in all three activities.”
By age seven, Kylie was training at the gym three-and-a-half hours a day, five days a week, and would go on to win over 100 gymnastic medals. However, due to injuries, Kylie was forced to leave the sport and she began cheerleading. “Our squad won numerous State and National titles, as well as ‘All American Cheer’ awards,” Kylie states proudly. She also attended Artworks Academy and landed several lead and supporting roles in local theatrical plays. “This is where I discovered my love for singing and performing.”
Kylie excels academically. Her achievements include the Principal’s Honor Roll, Citizenship Award, Reading Achievement, Newcastle's Top-Ten Achievement Award, Oklahoma Explore Scholars Award, and she has served as Class President.
Kylie was born on July 3, 1995, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the second of three children. She attended elementary school in Moore (home of Toby Keith), and is now a freshman in high school in Newcastle, a small town on the outskirts of Oklahoma City.
“At age 12, I received a guitar from my Papaw for Christmas,” Kylie recalls fondly. “I began taking guitar lessons and writing my own music. One day, my 8th grade English teacher gave us a journal topic to write about: ‘What's one of the hardest things you've ever had to do?’ One girl in the class said, ‘the hardest thing I ever had to do was watch my little sister battle cancer.’ That thought stuck with me for the rest of the day. I too have a little sister, and I couldn't imagine how difficult that must have been for my friend and her family. When I got home, I picked up my guitar and wrote ‘She's Our Miracle.’ ”
Kylie did not know at the time that her guitar teacher worked with the American Cancer Society and DJ’d for “Relay for Life” events. With his prompting, at age 13, Kylie recorded “She’s Our Miracle” and released it as a benefit single. Soon, she and the song were embraced by the organization and she began traveling all around Oklahoma and the surrounding region performing the song at numerous “Relays.” Inspired to try to do more to help the charity, Kylie recently recorded 7 songs with her band, and released the benefit CD, Christmas with Kylie Morgan, on Land Run Records.
She is currently writing and reviewing songs for her debut CD with plans to record in Hollywood and in Nashville. She is also gearing up for a multi-state “Relay for Life” tour.
Kylie is really enjoying all of the early success that she is achieving, but is very firmly grounded in who - and what - she is. “I love music. It has always been a part of my life. I think you should pursue the things you love. And I want my fans to know that it is OK to just be yourself.” Kylie Morgan is doing just that.
